Abstract

The article analyzes the essence and features of Federal Republic of Ger- many’s policy regarding the formation of Europe’s energy security, taking into account modern trends. Particular attention is paid to the study of the policy of the Federal Republic of Germany during the chancellorship of A. Merkel, which contributed to the development of the modern EU energy se- curity model. It was determined that the energy policy of the EU and Ger- many is aimed at ensuring energy security, improving the function of the common energy market, supporting energy efficiency, strengthening the pro- cesses of economy decarbonization, and initiating modern research in the field of energy. In addition, the features of the transformation of Germany’s policy regarding Europe’s energy security before and after the start of Rus- sia’s full-scale war against Ukraine were analyzed, and the prospects for en- suring Europe’s energy security were determined. The main directions of the policy of the Federal Republic of Germany in the field of federal and Euro- pean energy security after the absolute rejection of Russian fossil resources have been established. It was concluded that in the short term, Germany will have a decisive influence on the formation of a common energy policy and security of Europe, and the implementation of a common policy of the EU against Russia will contribute to a deep transformation of the state’s energy policy. In the long term, the EU and Germany should not only preserve the political and economic ability to confront Russia, but also create conditions for avoiding any other dependence on the supply of energy resources by third parties in the future. Ensuring Europe’s energy security will guarantee inde- pendence and self-sufficiency in making global political decisions that have a direct impact on the development and termination of Russia’s military actions against Ukraine.
