Abstract

Modern world political whales: China, the United States and the Russian Federation are trying to prevent a military catastrophe. Even the possibility of having such technologies in the hands of an obsessed totalitarian regime is of concern not only in South Korea and Japan, but also in the United States and the whole civilized world.
North Korea’s nuclear missile program, constant threats and aggressive rhetoric, as well as stubborn denial of DPRK’s constructive engagement have become a key issue not only for the whole of East Asia, but also for the United States. The reason is that US troops form the basis of the UN forces during the hot phase of the Korean War of 1950–1953 and have a contingent of 28,000 in South Korea. An important factor is the fact that the United States itself initiated the introduction of economic sanctions against North Korea and systematically increased the pressure against a totalitarian-communist regime that does not want to abandon nuclear weapons. US President Donald Trump met with Kim Chen Un in 2018 to continue the dialogue on denuclearization. As a result, the United States and the DPRK agreed on a complete nuclear disarmament of the Korean Peninsula during the historic meeting that took place on June 12 in Singapore. However, on December 20, 2018, the authorities of North Korea said they would carry out denuclearization only if the United States first eliminated the nuclear threat from their own side. However, the problems in the international relations of North Korea are much more than just a nuclear program. Due to poor management and natural disasters, a humanitarian catastrophe may occur in the country, and this is the millions of people who are trying to leave the country. Also important are economic and environmental problems that restrict trade and travel throughout North-East Asia. The North Korean program is too far-reaching and too important for propaganda in the country to abandon it for the sake of better relations with the United States.
