Abstract

Abstract. The study is devoted to the special role that France plays in the European region. Despite the rapid dynamics in different historical periods, the policy of France has remained consistent, it seeks to maintain its dominance in Europe. Influence in the region adds international weight to France, the ability to influence international politics, lead an independent foreign course and satisfy national interests. In the early 1990s, in connection with geopolitical changes, namely the end of the Cold War, the emergence of new states in Central-Eastern Europe, the disappearance of the bipolar international system, the construction of a new European structure intensified, in which France took a leading place with clearly defined geopolitical interests. The end of the "Cold War", the profound transformation of the geopolitical structure of the system of international relations fundamentally changed the conditions of France's international activity. She faced the need to determine her place in the new post-bipolar system. Therefore, France pursues a multi-vector policy, playing a leading role in international events, and creates its own spheres of influence. The desire to stay on the political "Olympus" creates the ground for a quick orientation and change of vectors, which, above all, are aimed at building a strong foreign policy. In these conditions, the study of the geopolitical vectors of the development of the French Republic is a necessary element of determining the status peculiarity of France on a planetary scale and in the system of regional relationships. France's search for new ways of self-realization on the scale of the world system of international relations and the desire for active actions on the international arena determined the activity of French Presidents in determining new geopolitical vectors of development.
