TRENDS OF THE US FOREIGN POLICY COURSE OF DONALD TRUMP’S ADMINISTRATION

Abstract

The article analyzes new trends in U.S. foreign policy since the election of Donald Trump as the President of the USA, as well as their impact on the development of the entire modern system of international relations. Ukraine's cooperation with the USA is a major priority for the realization of the national interests of our country. Therefore, to understand the current

U.S. approaches to international relations is fundamentally important to promote fruitful cooperation with the country. Based on the analysis of the 2017 National Security Strategy of the United States of America and other documents, the authors claim that the U.S. foreign policy acquires traits of isolationism and unilateralism. The content analysis of the publications on the official website of Donald Trump‟s administration demonstrates priority regions from the perspective of the White House, e.g., East Asia, NATO member countries, the Middle East, Latin America, and the increased attention to Arctic issues. The article analyzes the trends in the development of U.S. relations with China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran. Possible scenarios for further U.S. behavior in the international arena are considered, which should be taken into account by official Kyiv to strengthen Ukraine – United States relations. According to the authors of the research, the main task for Kyiv nowadays is to maintain and expand bipartisan backing for Ukraine in the U.S. Congress. Moreover, it is essential to promote mutually beneficial cooperation with the USA and its partner countries in the energy sphere, in which Washington focuses on energy security in Europe, especially in Eastern Europe. Due to the recent resonant events in Ukraine -United States relations, it is crucial to create a modern national center for Americanism because the miscalculations made are the result of a lack of understanding of many important issues.
