PUBLIC DIPLOMACY FEATURES OF TURKEY

Abstract. The article examines the features of the development of public diplomacy in Turkey. The essence of public diplomacy is analyzed and its important role in creating the country's image is noted. The importance of Turkey's geographical location, cultural values and historical heritage for its intercultural communication activities was noted. Emphasis is placed on the activities of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey in the field of public diplomacy.
The activities of the Yunus Emre Foundation in the field of popularization of Turkish language, history, art and culture around the world are described. The peculiarities of the Yunus Emre Institute, which conducts various activities of cooperation with foreign institutions, as well as conducts research on the teaching of Turkish history, culture, language and literature, have been studied. The importance of television and art on Turkish public diplomacy and soft power was noted. The growing influence of the Turkish film industry on the international arena is substantiated.
The importance of the Turkish Agency for Cooperation and Development (TIKA) in promoting, disseminating and supporting public diplomacy and cultural values abroad has been studied. The main areas of TIКA assistance programs are outlined, including assistance to educational institutions, restoration of historical heritage, supply of technical equipment, assistance to agriculture. NGOs have been identified as an important tool of Turkish public diplomacy. The participation of TIKA in the coordination of educational and training programs abroad is described. Emphasis is placed on the organization and holding of a wide range of cultural events by Turkish diplomatic missions abroad. The importance of tools such as educational activities, exchange programs and practical trainings for rapprochement with other countries and establishing long-term relations with them was noted.
