The article reveals the concept of «sanctions», their role in the country’s activities, as well as the influence and prerequisites of the spread of the sanctions policy on Russia and China and the prospects for the develop- ment of these countries under sanctions. Economic sanctions are one of the most common tools of foreign policy. Sanctions have taken a strong place in the foreign policy toolkit as an alternative or supplement to the use of force, as well as to strengthen negotiating positions. They are ac- tively used as a means of forcing individual states to comply with the political demands of the countries that initiated the sanctions.
