HISTORICAL MEMORY AS AN IMPORTANT FACTOR OF STATE BUILDING IN THE CONDITIONS OF COMBATING RUSSIAN INFORMATION AGGRESSION

Abstract

The article analyzes the peculiarities of the formation of historical memory as an important factor of state formation in the conditions of counteraction to Russian informational aggression. It is noted that in the conditions of increasing external threats and challenges for Ukraine, in particular full-scale aggression on the part of Russia, it is very important to form an effective state policy of memory, which will refute all Russian historical myths and contribute to the formation of a Ukrainian-centric national identity. It is emphasized that historical memory is one of the main factors in the formation of national self-awareness, an important factor in ensuring the national security of the Ukrainian state. It is pointed out that at the current stage of the formation of the Ukrainian state, the policy of historical memory is aimed at achieving such a state of collective memory that could support national identity, serve as a basis for social unity and consolidation. Attention is focused on the fact that in the conditions of a full-scale invasion by the Russian Federation, maximum efforts should be made to completely eradicate the Russian imperial historical narrative from the Ukrainian information space. In this context, the replacement of totalitarian symbols of the past is one of the primary tasks of the state policy of historical memory. It is noted that it is necessary, first of all, to dismantle monuments to Russian cultural or political figures that spread the Russian imperial narrative, to rename those streets and historical toponyms that bear the names of Russian political or cultural figures or cities of the Russian Federation.
