Abstract

The article determines that the Black Sea region is permanently the focus of the clash of strategic interests of different states. It is emphasised that from a historical point of view, the Black Sea region has always been an arena of economic, political and cultural communication between nations and ci- vilisations, as well as a complex knot of contradictions between blocs and countries, and the reasons that caused local conflicts of national, ethnic and religious nature in the region in the past have not lost their significance today. It is established that one of the most effective ways to overcome these contradictions, and, accordingly, to improve the military-political climate not only in the Black Sea region but also in Europe as a whole, is to create a regional Black Sea system of collective security. It is also highlighted that certain opportuni- ties for the countries of the Black Sea region are provided by the possibility of creating a powerful military-industrial potential in Ukraine after the end of the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war and cooperation with Ukraine will strengthen European orientations and ensure the promotion of modernised projects in the countries of the Black Sea region. It is emphasised that Ukraine's peacekeep- ing potential should be used in the future to resolve local conflicts (Georgian- Abkhazian, Georgian-Ossetian, Moldovan-Transnistrian). It is stated that on the basis of partnership, a new regional stability system could be formed as an organic element of the pan-European security architecture alongside NATO. It is argued that Ukraine, in the context of the Russian Federation's war against Ukraine, should modernise its economy within the framework of Euro-Atlantic aspirations, restore ways for cooperation, and form equal and beneficial part- nerships with the countries of the Black Sea region. For Ukraine, the Black Sea Economic Cooperation system is an important element in the development of a strategy for long-term cooperation with the countries of the East.
