RUSSIAN-GEORGIAN TRADE WARS AS A MEANS OF POLITICAL PRESSURE ON RUSSIA

The article defines the concept of «trade war», and considers the reasons, forms and methods of their conduct. Author analyses the publications of domestic and foreign scientists on this issue. Trade wars initiated by the Russian Federation against Georgia are analyzed in chronological order. It has been clarified why these groups of goods of Georgian export, manufacturers, were chosen as the ob- ject. It gad been found which governmental structures of the Russian Federation were directly involved in this war as well as their role in its deployment. With the help of statistical data, it is specified what damages were caused to Sakartvelo’s economy and its international image, and how it affected public sentiment. At- tention is drawn to the reaction of the official authorities of the world’s leading states, as well as Ukraine, to this conflict. The statements, positions and proposed measures of individual presidents were reviewed. Article goes on to covers the concrete steps that were taken to resolve the contradictions between the partici- pants in the conflict. It was concluded that, despite the negative consequences for the economy of both countries, the Kremlin authorities deliberately and arti- ficially create these trade wars. Since then, it has destabilizes Georgia’s domestic political situation, created an economic and worsened the popularity of its well- known trademarks among international partners and professional organizations. In conclusion, this is a continuation of the aggressive foreign policy of the presi- dent of Russian President V. Putin by means of economic pressure and blackmail.
