US TRADE WAR AGAINST THE EU: INSTRUMENTS OF PROTECTION AND POSSIBLE CONSEQUENCES OF THE CONFLICT

The article considers the escalation of the trade conflict between the United States of America and the European Union, caused by tariff and non-tariff re- strictions, regulatory disagreements and technological competition. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of the main instruments of trade protection used by the parties in response to economic pressure and restrictive measures.
The article studies the preconditions of the trade war, the key economic and political consequences of the conflict for both sides, as well as for the world economy as a whole. Historical parallels and modern measures of the US ad- ministration to import steel and aluminum are highlighted. Separately, the EU policy in the field of trade protection is considered, including anti-dumping measures, anti-subsidy mechanisms and the introduction of special duties.
The article analyzes in detail the relevant measures taken by the USA and the EU, as well as possible scenarios for the further development of the trade con- flict. The author concludes that the aggravation of trade relations between the world’s largest economies can lead to significant economic shocks, in particu- lar, a slowdown in economic growth, a decrease in international trade and in- creased uncertainty for business.
